Today is my last day working with Lauren and I have to say that this has been my favorite internship! I was able to work at two fashion shows for Audrey Magazine and for The Shops at Montebello. I was also able to help out with trunk shows and sample sales, along with assisting Jane Oh and writing blogs! I will definitely miss coming here every week. I will be off to London this January until the middle of July. I am especially looking forward to shopping at Top Shop and all of the other cool London shops. I also hope to travel throughout Europe while I am there - maybe Milan and Paris!

Anywho...I had such a great time here and I will really miss it...

Everyone has their Christmas stories of how their mom made the whole family wear matching, tacky sweaters on Christmas Day (or to every holiday party...) but now it seems that these sweaters have gone high fashion. I have spotted many trendy girls wearing them. Teen Vogue even lists "alpine sweaters" as a trend for this season. This one is from D&G! So this year when mom pulls out the sweaters, you can proudly wear them because now they're fashionable!

As I was looking at the red carpet photos for the European Music Awards, I noticed that many of the styles that celebs wore were either dark and edgy or girly and soft.

Hayley Williams from Paramore went for an edgy rocker look (appropriately...) and Eva Longoria-Parker also went edgy.

Miley Cyrus and Rihanna went for ruffly, soft girly looks. I would steal Rihanna's dress in a heartbeat! It is soooo adorable!

The Look for Less!

I've seen so many people with these Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots and have been drooling over them with envy. So since I don't have the $595 to cough up for these beauties, I thought I would search for some less expensive ones that are similar. Here's what I found:

These "Haviland" boots from Steve Madden are almost identical to the Stuart Weitzman ones! They cost $169.95! I'm in LOOOVE!

These "All the Way" boots from Chinese Laundry are pretty similar except they don't have the stretchy back that the other two have. But they're still super cute AND they're on sale for $169.99 too!

Despite it being 90 degrees in LA this week, it is bound to cool off soon! So in anticipation of cooler weather, I thought I would find some cute coats!

This Wool Ruffle-hem Coat from Victoria's Secret is super feminine and adorable. It also comes in a lot of really cute colors if grey isn't your thing.

I love the blanket sweater idea, so I was thrilled to find that there is a coat out there with the same idea. This one is called "Wrap You Up in My Coat" and its from BB Dakota.

This coat incorporate the military trend that is big right now. This is the AE Admiral Peacoat from American Eagle. It also comes in olive green. I REALLY want this one!

With Halloween over, its time to start getting excited for the holiday season. I am addicted to shoes - especially high heels. I will see a pair, fall in love, and then convince myself that I will wear them all the time in order to justify my purchase. The problem is that I hardly ever wear heels! So I buy a new pair and only end up wearing them a few times... While looking at shoes online, I came across this pair of Chewing Gum Heels by Kobi Levi in a "Statement Shoes" gallery on Elle.com. While looking through the trend report on Teen Vogue, I discovered a puzzling new trend - "The Stylish Sweatpant." How is it that sweatpants can be stylish? Isn't the point of wearing sweatpants to say, "I don't care, I just want to be comfortable." I guess that getting to the root of this new trend requires throwing old stereotypes out the door. It would be nice to throw on a pair of sweats that tell the world, "Yeah. That's right. I'm wearing sweatpants AND I'm stylish!"

Totally Tubular Threads Fashion Show

On October 16, 2010 we were at The Shops at Montebello to present an 80's inspired "Totally Tubular Threads" fashion show. All of the clothes worn by the models were from shops in the mall, such as Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Macy's, and many more.

The show featured 8 songs and each had a different 80's look to showcase. For example: the song "Maniac" had a lot of workout gear, and "Heart of Glass" was 80's prom themed. Other songs in the show were "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," "Rock the Casbah," "Its my Life," etc.

It is amazing how so many pieces really looked like they were actually from the 80's, but they are available for everyday people to buy and wear NOW! The huge, frizzy hair and colorful make-up was also super cool. It made me wish that I lived in the 80's!

Rather than trying to explain everything, here are some cool pictures for your eyes to feast on.

My name is Anna - the new intern at Itsola.

Since I have just inherited this blog, I thought that I should share a little bit about myself. Here are some random fun facts about me:

- Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Raised in Kapolei, Hawaii
- Junior at the University of Southern California - FIGHT ON!
- Major: English Literature
- Minor: Theatre - I'm taking a really awesome costume design class right now :)
- I was involved in a lot of theatre in middle school and high school - my favorite roles were Lady Olivia in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, Liesl von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and Patty Simcox in Grease
- My closet is filled to the brim, but I still feel like I have nothing to wear
- My favorite movie of all time is Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette
- If I could eat one food for the rest of my life it would be a peanut butter and banana sandwich - Yum!
- I change my mind about what I want to be when I "grow-up" everyday - here are the latest: costume designer, magazine editor, chef (I recently have enjoyed making soup, last night I made French Onion Soup), and teacher
- Obama recently came to a rally at USC and I saw him for a few seconds while standing on my tippy toes
- I worked at the Census Bureau this past summer
- I interned in the E! News Bureau last spring, but I never got to see Ryan Seacrest :(
- I have blue eyes and red hair (YES, I have heard all the jokes)

That's all I can think of for now.

Because Summer is Coming to an End!

Summer seems to have passed by so quickly this year! In a few weeks it will be September and about time to start a new season which is a little bittersweet, because although I love the summer season and am sad to see it go, fall brings a new beginning to fashion world and I think it is about time for new changes! I am sad to say that the past Itsola season's collection, which is the spring/summer 2010, will be the last collection for now. But as one chapter ends, another begins! This summer we have been working with Jane Oh in preparation for the shipment of her fall/winter 2010 collection and her new spring/summer 2011 collection. Be very excited to see her line come out because it is absolutely breathtaking! Definitely be on the look out for her take on the 'little black dress', and check out her website @ janeoh.com.

Because I Saw It on the Runway!

Color trends are very important when it comes the what you wear and this season will include some beautifully brilliant colors that will go quite nicely with your nails! Some of the same color trends for nail polish can also be applied to what we will be seeing on clothes. For the more toned down neutral earth tones we will be seeing shades of olive, camel and pale blue, and for the more vibrant shades we will be seeing bright lipstick type red, rich purples and metallics. I find fall colors to be very rich and so perfectly perfect for any outfit and for any occasion. For some inspiration, I suggest you check out Topshop's 'The Outsiders' collection. It has a great lookbook for the season and amazing key pieces that can be mixed and matched with your own wardrode!

Because It Matches My Nails!

Fall is rapidly approaching and with the new season comes new trends! One of the biggest trends is nail polish and I believe the fall season will bring very bold colors! I think the colors you choose to put on your nails say a lot about your personality and this season will be filled with very big personalities. All shades of purple, metallics, neutrals, and gem tones will be very popular so there will be plenty of colors to experiment with. I usually pick out a few favorite colors of the season and from that I choose the color that best matches my clothes and how I'm feeling. One of my favorite brands of nail polish is OPI for Sephora. They have endless choices of colors perfect for every personality! Some of their collections that you'll defintely want to check out in preparation for the fall trends are OPI's havana nights, autumn & eve, and film noir collections. It will be a season to take chances so don't be afraid of your color choices!

Montebello's Denim Drive!

Last week, Itsola was at the Shoppes at Monetebello to help kick off their denim drive! Visitors were welcome and encouraged to drop off any unwanted denim to donate to charity! Itsola setup and hosted the event with Chriselle Inc., showing the audience the denim trends for fall with looks pulled from Macy's, JC Penny, Gap, Anchor Blue, New York & Co. and Forever 21. The audience was treated to cupcakes and juice! The denim drive will continue through August so if you have any pairs of old jeans or any denim clothing, feel free to drop it off at the Shoppes at Montebello! All donations will be going to a great cause!

How I Would Wear the Circle Pocket Dress!

I know I've already written a post about how I would wear the romper, but this one's about Itsola's royal blue romper! This just happens to be a favorite because I think the vibrant blue color goes great with many skin tones and not to mention this romper is very comfortable and flattering on all body shapes!

I would wear Itsola's royal blue silk romper with a black BB Dakota Cardigan, and Sam Edelman Divine shoes. For this outfit I would choose silver accessories so nothing would clash with the silver zipper on the romper. A silver woodblock necklace from Obey would go great with this outfit, as well as a silver double point ring from the Kardashian collection.

The zipper top is another simple and stylish basic that can be worn with almost everything! I would wear the silk zipp top with a ripped knee jean by Tripp NYC, Seychelles lace top strappy sandals, a Rojas hoodie scarf, necklaces from Surface To Air and Mother Daughter Jewelry, and rings by Obey. When it comes to accessories with this outfit you can keep it simple because the big zipper can act as a cute accessory itself or you can add on to it with a little more silver and it would still look great!

I also think this outfit would look great with accessories from House of Harlow by Nicole Richie. I once saw her on tv and she mentioned how most most people say "less is more" but how she believes "MORE is more" and I think that saying works perfectly, accessories-wise, with this outfit!

This Itsola zipper dress is incredibly cute for a walk on the beach! It is extremely comfortable because of it's made of fine light weight silk and looks great on every girl, not to mention it was featured in Self magazine on Nina Dobrev, an actress on Degrassi and Vampire Diaries. This dress is super simple but very chic and just needs a touch of a few accessories! I would wear it with Jeffrey Campbell Black Mariels, with jewelry by Erica Weiner. This dress can be a basic piled with tons of necklaces and some earrings or rings to match! With this dress you can definitely go heavier on the accessories(not literally)!!

This morning I heard Madonna's "Vogue" on the radio and it completely reminded me of the episode of Glee and their tribute to Madonna. She is such an amazing icon and a big part of the fashion world. Many people remember her with the cone bra but she actually had a greater influence on everyone whether we realize it or not. On Halloween when people choose to dress up as someone from the 80's, most of the time they wear an outfit similar to one of Madonna's previous outfits! Well, her "Vogue" video has to be one of my favorite videos based on style and fashion!

No, not Louis Vuitton, Las Vegas! This past weekend I took a trip to Vegas! After a long four hour drive, I was excited to see the city filled with lights! One of the places I looked forward to seeing was the new City Center! During my last trip, it wasn't completely developed but let me tell you, it is definitely something worth seeing if you ever make the drive there! Not only is the architecture and view from the outside breathtaking, but the interior will make you speechless! There are so many details in every part of the building that make you stop and really stare! It's very modern and almost futuristic looking! And did I mention there's great shopping! Louis Vuitton and Prada really catch your eye when you're driving by but when you actually go in, it's like you're in heaven!

Flea Market Sunday!

It's that time of the month again, and by that I'm talking about the Rose Bowl flea market! It comes once a month and it will be taking place again this Sunday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena! Although admission is $8, it is completely worth it! I visited this flea market for the first time last summer and it is incredible! There are hundreds of vendors and it seemed like the market was endless! If you've never been, it is definitely worth checking out! You'll be able to find sunglasses, clothes, accessories, shoes, vintage pieces, and so much more! My friend once bought an adorable gold vintage Gucci watch for $1! Ridiculous or what?! Last summer it was a little hard to enjoy with the blazing hot sun, but lately the mornings and early afternoons have be quite cool so this weekend should be the best time for a flea market! Even if you get a little tired, you can rest and sit in the Rose Bowl stadium while you enjoy some delicious food and the best frozen lemonade! You won't want to miss it or else you'll have to wait a whole month until the next one!

Last week I read the May 2010 issue of Oyster magazine and it has become one of my new favorites! Oyster is an Australian magazine that features international fashion, music, art and film. My favorite collections right now just happen to be the brightest and most vibrant! Raf Simons created a colorful garden party for the Jil Sanders Menswear spring 2011 collection, and Donatella Versace brought back playful sixties inspired style for Versace's resort 2011 collection. Donatella created the collection with a sixties spy girl and I can see her collection as an edgier Austin Powers movie!

Although I can't wear anything from the Jil Sander collection, I am obsessed with menswear. I'm in love with the entire collection and how the colors almost looked like they glow in the dark coming down the runway. Color seems to be the biggest detail and adds the perfect touch to all the pieces!

The other day I made a trip to the mall to look for a Father's Day present and my first stop was at J.Crew, which I must say that one of my favorite stores! Not only are the window displays eye catching but also the clothes inside are always of great quality and well presented. I'm always most impressed with the menswear in the store and I was searching for a shirt for my dad I found myself obsessing and wanting to buy every other shirt I saw! I can honestly say that their menswear sometimes makes me wish I was a boy, just so I could shop there for myself. I ended up deciding on one of J.Crew's utility shirts, but here are a few other things I fell in love with while I was there!

It seems like the world is on a constant search for what's new, but why not try going vintage for the summer? Lately, the weather has been perfect for trips to the beach so I've been searching online for a cute bikini/bathing suit! As I was browsing from site to site, I came across a few retro swimsuits (which can be found on LAVintage.com) that are absolutely adorable! They're not exactly great for laying out and tanning but they're definitely great for times when you want to walk/swim/bike at the beach or for times when you just want to turn a few heads!

I can feel the hot summer weather creeping up and I already know that the heat will make it unbearable to wear anything more than a tank and shorts or a simple summer dress! Surprisingly, I found myself in an Itsola romper this past Saturday and not only are they super comfortable, but they are quite flattering as well! Rompers have been in for a while and I've always thought they looked really cute but I never thought that I could ever pull one off. So if you don't own one yet, I would definitely suggest that you go out and get one this summer! Every time Katy Perry steps on a red carpet, she never fails to amaze me! Although I'm not a fan of the blue hair, she always knows how to stand out and make a statement with everything she wears.

For the past few days, I have not been able to go a day without listening to her new single "California Gurls," because it is honestly one of the best summertime anthems! As I was watching her walk down the red carpet during Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, I got a glimpse at her new video and I absolutely loved her crazy and bold fashion choices!

This past weekend I finally watched 'Sex and the City 2' and the movie makes me crave a new wardrobe! The opening scene shows Carrie in a white v-neck dress by Halston Heritage. SPRING IS IN THE AIR

Finally!! right?? It seems as though this was the never ending winter. Not necessarily here in LA, but for those of you on the east I’m sure you’re nodding your head and agreeing with my last sentence. Given that, we’re sure that many of you have spring break plans or at least spring thoughts. So what does one think of when it comes to spring? Here are my thoughts:

* I envision warm evenings spent in the backyard with the grill on fire and spring-like music playing in the background

* Even warmer days laying out by the pool (or the beach, for those of you lucky enough to have one nearby)

* And endless weekends enjoying the happiness and warmth that the spring season brings.

Let me also point out that I have coordinated every and all outfit possibilities as I foster these warm, fuzzy, spring thoughts.

VENTURING TO VEGAS!

Last week I found myself in Las Vegas for the first time in my 22 years of life. Better late than never, huh?

While most travel to the city of sin to gamble and absorb everything the city has to offer, I visited on a different account.

I was in Vegas for the Project Trade Show at Mandalay Bay. We were there showing a fashion line, in the hopes of gaining feedback and picking up a few fans along the way.

While it was mostly work, we had a bit of time to squeeze in some play. Below are a few images of the divine meals we consumed, the priceless views from the top of

Shuffle While You Swim

Attention readers:

The most brilliant invention ever has just arrived (well, at least for me) . So while swimming laps as a form of exercise I become terribly bored, so quickly in fact, it nearly defeats the purpose of me even swimming in the first place.

Thankfully my lane buddy introduced me to a solution: A WATERPROOF IPOD CASE! I cannot tell you how many more miles I would have under my belt had I known about this sooner. Made to fit an ipod shuffle, the

waterproof ear buds project your choice of tunes while you swim lap upon lap. After the iPod is placed in the case, it just clips onto your goggle straps! Best of all- it’s under $100.

Mine is currently en route to my front door, but I’ll be sure to let you know how it turns out. Let me ask, do you any of you have this incredible contraption? If so, what are your opinions. The testimonials for this product were non-existent, and having Michael Phelps pose with it for a picture isn't the most convincing.

1.) Having brunch at an outdoor patio

--> It’s the perfect excuse to enjoy a mimosa (or two) with a good friend.

2.) Checking out the Melrose Trading Post

--> With such a wide variety of things like boots and vintage jewelry, it’s hard not to find something that you need. For example: pre-owned boots. They say you can’t judge someone unless you’ve walked in their shoes. My take on the saying? Judge away if you bought ‘em!

3.) Watching the Grammy’s

--> I must admit, I am jealous that I don’t get a sweet bag of loot for looking cute and appearing in public. Tell me, who was your best or worst dressed nominee?

How We're Helping for Haiti

Let me start by saying that if you haven't yet helped out Haiti in anyway- you need to. NOW. Whether you help by sending some money or saying a prayer, it truly is important for everyone to make some kind of a contribution (even if it does mean that you go Starbucks free for a day... i'm sure you'll survive). In addition to texting 'HAITI' to 90999 last week, I just purchased my tickets to see the Real Medicine for Haiti show which includes live acoustic performances at the House of Blues in LA. Have I mentioned how much I love it here in LA?!

Who am I most excited to see perform? BRETT DENNEN. Ever since I layed ears on his songs I have been simply smitten- if you haven't become a fan of his, become one! :)

A lifetime supply of Sauvignon Blanc wine- it’s like a large dose of happiness in each glass! Full of citrus and berry flavors it’s bound to cheer anyone up from the mid-week blues we all encounter. Check out the ever-accurate wikipedia for a description of what exactly I am raving about.

A manicure with taupe colored nail polish. This unexpected color goes with nearly any outfit and has a cool factor even when chipped!

A cognac colored handbag- an unexpected neutral goes with practically any outfit I can put together in my head. The particular one I have my eye on? Go ahead, drool a little- I surely did!

Just to stress how much we l-o-v-e DIY projects, we’ve found a great tool to help channel everyone’s inner fashionista. Feel like you have great design ideas but lack the skills to draw them? Worry no more, Hokey Croquis sells a sketchpad where the silhouette lines disappear when you make a copy. What this means for you: you trace your design over the pre-printed silhouette. For most non-Californian’s the Rose Bowl stadium is commonly known for hosting football games throughout the year, but what most don’t realize is that it’s also the home to one of the largest flea markets in the world.

The Rose Bowl Flea Market hosts over 2,500 vendors and attracts anywhere between 15 and 20 thousand buyers every month! Known to sell unusual things and attract various stars, this is definitely worth checking out.

About the film:

BEAUTIFUL LOSERS celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural moments of a generation.

In the early 1990's a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the "establishment" art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.

Starring a selection of artists who are considered leaders within this culture, Beautiful Losers focuses on the telling of personal stories. It speaks to themes of what happens when the outside becomes "in" as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today's youth.

Favorite Holiday Drink The Christmas Jones Cocktail

Ingredients:

4 fresh strawberries
1 part vodka
2 tsp sugar (fine)
5 oz pineapple juice
7-Up
mint sprigs for garnish

Preparation:

In a blender, whiz the vodka, strawberries, sugar and pineapple juice together.
Pour the mix equally into two highball glasses
Top with 7-Up.
Garnish with a sprig of mint.

ENJOY!

Happy Thanksgiving Itsola Ladies!

Hope you all are enjoying your turkey, stuffing, and some pumpkin pie! So we know what to do with the left overs (breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next two weeks!) but what do you do with that left over turkey bone? We have a great recipe for you to try that will tantalize your taste buds when you need a break from the extra canned cranberries.

I always make my World Famous Texas Style Turkey Jook the day after Thanksgiving. It's a great way to use the entire turkey and is so simple, even I can make it!

Jook is a Chinese porridge that is a comfort food eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My mom has always made it and I always find it at dim sum. There are also other versions in Korean and Japanese cooking. Here is my Texas style/Chinese version!

What you need:

-Leftover turkey bones
-1 Large Pot of Boiling Water
-1/2 Cup Uncooked White Rice
-1 pkg. Bean Curd Sticks (can be found in Asian markets...also optional)
-chopped green onions
-sesame oil
-white pepper
-potato chips
-soy sauce
-leftover turkey (optional)

What to do:

-Simmer the turkey bones in a pot full of water for a couple hours to make a good turkey broth
-You can add carrots, onions, celery, etc if you want it more flavorful, but it is not necessary
-Add uncooked white rice and simmer for a couple hours, stirring occasionally, until it becomes the consistency of porridge.
-30 minutes before you are ready to eat, break up the bean curd sticks in a bowl and pour boiling water over it and cover. Soak for 10 minutes until the bean curd becomes soft then drain the water.
-Add bean curd to jook and stir together
-It's ready!
-Add soy sauce, white pepper, green onions, sesame oil, and chips to taste!

Kathleen the Intern, here. Just wanted to share some birthday photos with you all! I wore the Silk Satin Cape dress to see Mary Poppins at the Ahmanson Theater in Downtown Los Angeles and the baby blue Bib Dress to South Coast Plaza for a shopping extravaganza! I received so many compliments on both. I felt so special (and these dresses feel so good to wear!).
